Born in Netherlands, Herman Moll moved to London in 1678 as an engraver and map maker. He started his own map publishing business, which became very successful and one of the most known map publishers in London. His maps come with attractive illustrations and decorative cartouches.

This fine series of maps were published for Moll’s New Description of England, the maps are famous for their drawings of architectural remains and antiquities to the side panels. His work was much copied by other publishers and he enjoyed a high reputation.
