Eurinorhynchus Pygmaeus
This beautiful, hand-painted, antique lithographic print of a bird is for ‘The Birds of Australia’ by John Gould. The collection was drawn in part by his wife Elizabeth Gould before her death and then was completed by Henry Constantine Richter. It was the first comprehensive survey of birds of Australia and included descriptions of 681 species, 328 of which were new to science and were first described by Gould. This helped him earn the name ‘bird man’.
