Drawn by Georg Dionysius Ehret (1708-1770) a botanist and entomologist best known for his botanical illustrations.

Ehret began as a gardener’s apprentice near Heidelberg and became one of the more influential European botanical artists of all time.

Published in 1750 in Griffith Hughes’ ‘Natural History of Barbados’.

Dedicated to Prince William, Duke of Cumberland, the third and youngest son of King George II.
