Edward Stanford (1827 – 1904) Publisher and engraver. He served his apprenticeship as a printer and stationer in Wiltshire in the 1840s. Stanford became a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society in 1854 and in 1857 he founded Stanford’s Geographical Establishment. He employed T.W. Saunders as an engraver of his maps. The quality of these maps won numerous awards. Edward (younger) Stanford took over the business which is still operating to the present day.
